Doctors Letter of Recommendation
August 27, 2013
[patient] is a patient under my care at [hospital] in Washington, D.C. At the age of 18 months he was diagnosed with cryptogenic generalized epilepsy and has a syndrome that is relatively close to myoclonic acstatic epilepsy of Doose.
[patient] has tried the ketogenic diet and many anti-epileptic medications in various combinations, with little to no benefit. Despite daily medications, [patient] still seizes up to 15 times a day and is significantly developmentally delayed.
I believe that [patient] may receive therapeutic benefit (decrease in seizures) from the use of medical marijuana. The parents are aware of the pros and cons of using medical marijuana.
Please do not hesitate to call my office if you need any additional information about [patient’s] condition.
